Equine Alert systems are an excellent way to keep an eye on horses and facilities even when you are not on property. Equine Alert was conceived and designed by Julie Calzone, a long-time equestrian. As a horse-owner, who has seen her fair share of nights sleeping in a barn aisle to monitor one of her horses she decided there had to be a better way to leverage technology to monitor and protect her horses and property.

"We fear barn fires and getting there too late. We want to see our horses even when we are not on premises. Most of us are used to using 'alarm companies' at our residences and offices, so the leap to the horse farm was a natural.

Equine Alert overcame the challenge of being able to provide services regardless of landline or cable connections through its use of the latest technology. The systems are not dependent on landlines or any hard-wired connections to the horse farm. This is important since most horse farms are in rural environments. Equine Alert provides systems to:

Equine Alert has scaled its operations to provide complete training, monitoring and protocol systems for emergencies and security at equestrian related businesses nationally.

The company has partnered with Acadian Monitoring Services, Safety Management Systems and Convergint Technologies to provide full-scale development, installation and monitoring of security, fire, video and audio systems for facilities that house horses.

Equine Alert is based in the Gulf Coast region of the United States and is taking advantage of decades of expertise in the energy sector. The company has also begun a relationship with Knight Security which covers the state of Texas.

As the business developed, we realized there was much more to do than provide camera monitoring,” said Julie Calzone, Equine Alert founder. “We needed to scale the business for inquiries that are coming in from throughout the United States.”

“The partners were carefully selected because their foundation is emergency and safety management,” said Calzone. “Additionally, many of their people came from the first responder ranks.”

Equine Alert systems require a high-speed Internet connection for upload and download provided by owner at the building where video system is installed. Traditional telecommunications services are useful for other monitoring services.
